Womansong is forever grateful to the many organizations and friends that donated during our Hurricane Helene recovery. In 1988, Womansong, under the leadership of founding director Linda Metzner, created the New Start Fund to provide a hand up for a brighter and safe future to women in Western North Carolina. Through grants and scholarships, we support women who are starting on a new path to greater self-sufficiency.
The New Start Fund is administered by a volunteer group of Womansong members. This committee raises funds, and working with social service agencies and community colleges, distributes the funds.
