EP Release Party!
Womansong Presents “The Echo Mountain Session”
As Asheville’s longest-running women’s chorus, we are pleased to announce the release of a new recording project, “The Echo Mountain Session.” Produced by Michael O’Shea, the four tracks feature original songs by local songwriters, Andrea Rosal and Sue Ford, as well as songs by John McCutcheon and Melanie DeMore. The tracks will be released on Bandcamp and all streaming services on January 30th. There will also be videos of the recording journey on the WomansongNC YouTube channel.
Womansong is hosting a Release Party at The Mule (131 Sweeten Creek Road, Asheville) on Friday, Jan. 30 from 6:30-8:30pm. The chorus will perform several songs live, as well as show video of the EP’s recording session. The party is free and open to the public, please mark your calendars and join us!
“The Echo Mountain Session” tracks include:
“Eve,” by Andrea Rosal and arranged for choir by Lytingale, was the winner of Womansong’s 2024 Songwriting Contest. Inspired by a friend’s journey, it tells the story of a transgender child and their family’s love.
“The Thread,” by Sue Ford, describes the invisible connection between people, nature, and all living things of the earth. It is based on a quote from William Stratford, “There’s a thread you follow. It goes among things that change, but it doesn’t change.”
“Y’All Means All,” by John McCutcheon and arranged for choir by Lytingale, emphasizes the importance of inclusivity within the spirit of southern hospitality.
“Lead with Love,” by Melanie DeMore, is a rallying song for positive action in troubling times.
